ECW -- What We Do

Energy and the Environment

photo of wind farm The Energy and Environment group examines the environmental, economic and technical issues associated with energy use. The group provides services related to established and emerging renewable energy and efficiency technologies including:

  • Biomass resource assessments
  • Case studies of renewable energy and innovative design installations
  • Conversion of technical information for lay audiences
  • Integration of energy concepts into community planning
  • Market studies
  • Technology assessments
  • Third party review of concepts

The Energy Center has the multidisciplinary breadth to assemble resource teams for broader scopes such as facility and community energy planning. An example is drawing personnel from several practice areas to include expertise on residential and commercial building performance, renewable systems integration and opportunity fuels, and campus/community-scale generation systems.

Beyond technical design expertise, the Energy Center can provide skills for integrating energy strategies into community smart growth planning including feasibility studies and public information resources and training.
