Byron is a small farm town just south of Fond du Lac in southeast Wisconsin. Formally organized in 1846, Byron's population is now over 1,500. Over the years, dairy farming has dominated the local economy along with the quarrying of stone from the Niagara Escarpment.

The wind power industry is new to the local economy, attracted by the strong and steady winds along the Niagara Escarpment. Several large wind projects are planned in the future for this area of the state, and one was just completed in 2008—the We Energies Blue Sky Green Field project. The Village continues to support wind power, recognizing the value of its unique local resource. The We Energies Byron wind project, installed in 1999, has shown that wind turbines also make good neighbors.
