BEHIND THE SCENES

Energy Center to study barriers to use of digesters on swine farms
Anaerobic digesters are underutilized on swine farms; in the top four states with a combined potential of nearly 4,000 eligible farms, only seven digesters are deployed. With support from AgStar and DOE, the Energy Center and Great Plains Institute will issue findings in summer on the barriers and solutions to greater deployment.

Energy Center expertise includes alternate-fuel vehicle use
From compressed natural gas vehicles for commercial fleets to personal electric vehicles, we're helping Xcel Energy and Madison Gas and Electric assess a new slate of options in alternate-fuel transportation.

Multifamily buildings study underway in Minnesota
The Energy Center has teamed with Franklin Energy to study residential tenant perception and behavior on energy use for both tenant-paid and landlord-paid utility services. The study is funded by the state of Minnesota with results due early in 2013.
