Dr. Tom Kimmerer served as a professor for 18 years in forest biology at the University of Kentucky before becoming the Executive Director of AASHE (Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education). He helped found the University of Kentucky's Natural Resource Conservation and Management Program and was awarded a Senior Fulbright Scholarship to the Universiti Pertanian Malaysia. Tom served as academic dean of a University of Kentucky education program in Malaysia and worked on sustainable forestry and agriculture in Indonesia and Malaysia. He founded a company to create web-based technologies for land management and has been a consultant in land management, sustainable forestry and arboriculture.
Tom is currently writing a book on tree biology and climate change. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Living Arts and Science Center in Lexington, KY, and is a member of the American Society of Plant Biologists, The American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Sigma Xi.
