07.29.09  |  Beloit Program Trains Young Workers for Green Jobs
The Department of Workforce Development recently contracted with Focus on Energy to provide Energy Advocate training to young individuals in Beloit. The training provides jobs for people to conduct home energy efficiency audits and help homeowners save money on energy bills. Focus on Energy turned to the Energy Center to design and conduct the training. The Energy Center is recognized as an expert provider of training on energy issues through Energy Center University.

07.28.09  |  Madison Architects Advance to Nationals in Green Building Contest
The Energy Center was the biggest supporter of the Wisconsin Green Building Alliance's talent competition for developing sustainable community design. The competition's key features of expanding knowledge and developing future leaders in sustainable building concepts fit perfectly with the Energy Center's mission. Flad Architects of Madison, the winners of the local competition, will travel to USGBC's Greenbuild Conference in Phoenix this fall to compete with other leaders on a national level.

The Energy Center of Wisconsin will study the availability of wood chips and other wood waste in western Wisconsin as the state and Xcel Energy look to explore ways to make more renewable electricity from wood.
