welcome
Learn about the renewable energy technologies you can use in your business, new building or commercial-scale development.
This program provides a solid background in renewable energy technologies for commercial-scale applications. Get an overview of renewable energy, from an exploration of the benefits, to a view of technologies that work well in Wisconsin's northern climate. Gain an overview of renewable energy technologies fit into the LEED™ design process and the software tools used for assessing renewable energy potential. Find out about design considerations, potential system performance, and the economics of installing a system in today's solar market.
Participants will also be introduced to renewable energy systems that generate heat for space and process heating including examples of installed systems. Technologies covered include solar heating of water and makeup air, heating systems that use wood and other biomass as fuel, and ground source heat pumps.
AS A RESULT OF THIS TRAINING YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:
- Explain the benefits of and guidelines for using renewable energy in the Upper Midwest
- Identify specific technologies that work best for commercial-scale development in northern climates
- Outline the potential for generating electricity from renewable energy with particular emphasis on the design and economics of solar electric systems
- Describe the potential for renewable energy to generate space and process heat, including from solar thermal systems, biomass combustion and ground source heat pumps
Benefits of attending:
- Understand how renewable energy technologies can be integrated into commercial buildings
- Learn strategies for implementing your first photovoltaic system
- Hear about Upper Midwest specific data and applications
- Examine design and economic strategies
Who Should Attend?
Architects, designers, engineers, building owners, facility managers, commercial building developers, commercial new construction professionals and any professionals who are relatively new to renewable energy
