Our Goals

Photovoltaic energy systems produce electricity--the most versatile form of useful energy--directly from sunlight, without moving parts or polluting the environment.

Their efficiency will only go up. Their cost will only go down.

Some people ask, "Why are we working on anything else?"

Given the planet's troubling environmental and energy resource forecasts, many of Wisconsin's citizens and businesses are beginning to envision a renewable energy future. A vital part of that future is solar energy.

Solar energy can meet many of our needs for lighting, heating, and electricity. For example, photovoltaic (PV) systems can generate electricity directly from sunlight to power our businesses and homes.

The Wisconsin Solar Use Network was created to coordinate and promote the use of solar energy systems in Wisconsin, with a focus on PV systems.

WisconSUN--Promoting Successful Solar Energy Systems
Our main goal is to increase the number of successful solar energy installations. We define a successful installation as:

  • Economically viable
  • Highly visible
  • Supported by stakeholders
  • Implemented using innovative strategies
  • Easily repeated elsewhere

By increasing the number of successful installations, Wisconsin's solar energy markets and sales will grow. As sales grow, costs for all solar energy systems--particularly PV--will decline.

WisconSUN promotes solar energy projects by marketing, reducing barriers, and helping participants. We support projects during planning, design, and installation. We also provide the information, training, and project management assistance needed to implement these systems successfully.
