The
Waunakee Community High School's photovoltaic system will be integrated
into the school's curriculum in many ways. For the next several years
students will design additions to the system until it has a capacity of
10 kW. Technology education students will design ballasted racks that
can be seasonally adjusted - thereby optimizing the system's output. The
new racks will support another 2.3 kW of ASE modules and fill up the system's
Wisconsin-made Omnion 5 kW inverter in 2000.
Waunakee Utilities, Wisconsin Public Power Inc. and the school's business
students will develop a green power program, through which the Waunakee
community can fund the system's expansion and educational activities.
Initial project partners provided over $60,000 to the system and related
