| News Million Solar Roofs Registry ö Wisconsin Sites Needed!! MADISON, Wis. (January 2000) ÷ The U.S. Department of Energy has set up a process for registering solar energy sites that were installed after June 27, 1997. The registry was created to measure public support of solar energy systems. Also, our Federal legislators like to see ãquantifiableä results for their budget appropriations. There are currently only three sites registered in Wisconsin! Wisconsin has set a goal of 3,860 sites by 2010. If the number of registered sites remains small, it will be taken as an indication that solar energy is not of interest to the public, and thus may result in reduced federal and state support of solar energy. However if registration is significant it can be used to leverage additional funds for PV programs and incentives. The registry is confidential. All that people outside of the DOE will be able to see is that the site is PV or solar thermal and in which state it is located. To sign up, all that is required is:
